그의 신학
성경의 자증적(自證的) 권위와 증거주의적 고려보다는 성령의 증거에 강조점을 두고 있다. 그는 영국 국교회 전통 개혁주의, 복음주의적 흐름에 서서 영국의 청교도들로부터 자신의 신학적인 저작에 많은 영감을 취하였던 것이다.
